- It appears that half of the future students visit the matching days at Windesheim.
- The study programs are positive about the first meetings, that were held instead of the Studychoice Check.
The matching days started last month and will continue until next June. “The evaluations follow later, but it appears that half of the future students will visit a matching day” says Anneke Postma, coordinator of the project group “From Studychoice Check to Matching day.”
Last week 2600 future fulltime and dual students received an invitation for the matching day and 1200 let us know they would like to participate. That is 46 percent. “We expect that the number will grow because of the emails reminders that are being sent.” According to Postma the study programs are satisfied about the course of the first matching days, that were organized this year instead of the Studychoice Check. Windesheim doesn’t give study recommendations during the meetings anymore. The days have been fully organized for meetings, deepening and reflection. The Studychoice Check was obligated so the show up was a 100 percent. The new approach definitely means less work for the study programs, since one-on-one conversations are not necessary anymore.
All matching days begin with a questionnaire focused on reflection. The other parts of the program differ, just as with the Studychoice Check, per study program. For example, for Industrial product design, groups worked on a design assignment to get to know the stages of a design process. While Education in Primary Schools students at Windesheim Flevoland would visit a primary school. Striking is the part of the current first years and older students in the program. The secondary school students appreciate talking to the higher professional students. “They have the opportunity to ask all sorts of questions and notice that the students had the same questions when they started the study program. That will help them with reflecting and for motivation.’’ says Jantina Bremer-Postma, coordinator of the matching days of Windesheim Flevoland. Elsie Liene de Wijn, coordinator of the days at the division of Health Care and Social Work, says it even better: “Future students experience the contact with a peer as the most valuable thing on the matching days.” Future students still have the right to ask for a Studychoice Check from Windesheim if they have doubts after the matching days whether the study program suits them. However until now, almost no requests entered, according to Postma.
